High Deductible Health Plans normally have lower monthly premiums than PPO plans. With an HDHP, all medical costs are paid out of pocket by the member until the deductible is reached. The Sana H1 plan is a High Deductible Health Plan. With this plan, once the deductible and out of pocket max are met, coinsurance kicks in and the plan pays for 100% of covered medical expenses. High deductible health plans are also compatible with an HSA (Health Savings Account).
Members who choose HDHPs typically want to spend less each month on their health insurance and are able to pay most medical costs upfront. These members usually only see a doctor occasionally for preventive care like annual checkups or minor injuries.
High Deductible Health Plans may not be a good fit for members who visit a doctor regularly, have a major procedure coming up, are taking specialty medications, or tend to spend a lot of money on healthcare.
